What keeps people around?

March 20, 2026 - 11:06pm - Flagstaff, Arizona Substance. For me, what I have learned so far in my company is this simple threefold structure of questions. The price of excellence is 3 fold: What are you willing to give up? What rewards are you looking to aim for? What sacrifices are you will willing to endure? Perhaps they can viewed as macabre, like David Goggins in going all in and running on broken feet to get to your goal. Or even melancholy, meditating on your death, in order to remove all mental risks or barriers. Honestly, I use these two mental and physical extremes from time to time. But what can we do to transcend this? If I am asking myself honestly, the true fact that "transcendence" exists, means that it is accessible to all of us. What I have personally seen in the media, film and creative agency world, especially in the world of AI, is VOLUME VOLUME VOLUME. What happened to brand? Quality? Evergreen? Not saying that AI doesn't bring you those things; I personally use Cursor, Chat GPT, Claude Code, etc. I am not excused from the perceptions either. But something I have always found fascinating is the FEELING that one feels when someone experiences content, the company, or the character of one CEO. What volume gives you is speed, but sometimes speed doesn't give you the right people in higher frequencies if brand or even values, virtues or one's character is established. I'm not on a high horse, this is for me to reflect on. -J
